Windows Printing

Windows printing is useful when your printer is connected to a PC running Microsoft Windows, shared in a Windows workgroup or is listed in Active Directory on your network (if you don't know what this is - that's OK). Your mobile device needs to be connected to the same network as the PC, typically via Wi-Fi.

First step is to make sure the printer is connected to PC and you can print on it. PC-to-printer connection can be anything ranging from USB cable (common) to it's own Wi-Fi link or any other options. On Windows computer, navigate to Control Panel, then Printers & Faxes and find your printer. Right-click and go to its properties, the select the Sharing tab. Check the Shared and click OK. Your printer is available on the network now.

All these steps can be completed by your network administrator and the printer may be available for you to connect to already. This is typical in business environment. You may be asked to provide your network credentials to access computers and printers attached to them.

Start PrintHand application on your device and look for Windows printing. The easiest way to do it is to start Setup Wizard, and indicate your printer is connected to a computer, then select Windows. You should be able to see the list of computers on your network (which can be just one), a list of printers attached to each computer (which can be one too). After you select it, you are good to go!

Note: It's possible that your printer model is not compatible with PrintHand yet. This may result in not finding the driver or unsatisfactory results with the generic one, black and white printing while expecting color, etc. If for any reason Windows printing does not work for you, please consider alternatives (requires connecting the printer to a computer):
